In a statewide economic impact study of Ohio's Greenest Industry (conducted early 2006 about 2005 sales), the results show that Ohio's Nursery & Landscape Industry plays a valuable role in the financial well-being of the Buckeye State! Ohio's Greenest Industry is Coming Up Roses!
Some highlights of the report:
- Sales revenue for 2005 was approximately $4.13 Billion
- Between 2001 and 2005, the industry grew 48%
- Overall, the largest segment of Ohio's Greenest industry is "Landscape Services" at $1.9 Billion in 2005 sales
- Retail Garden Center Sales reached $677 Million
- Wholesale Nursery Sales topped $$701 Million
- Over 241,000 individuals are employed in some aspect of Ohio's Greenest Industry
- Statewide, $491 Million is paid in property, sales, employee, and income taxes by our industry.
