This session is a demonstration and hands-on practice for participants in seasonal pruning to shape, control size, and/or to promote vigorous new growth on a dozen different tree and shrub species in efficient, cost effective ways that produce the best looking, healthiest plants.

This session is a demonstration and hands-on practicefor participants in seasonal pruning to shape, control size, and/or to promote vigorous new growth on a dozen different tree and shrub species in efficient, cost effective ways that produce the best looking, healthiest plants. Tools, methods and options will be discussed, including the instructor’s methods which have been influenced by those practiced for centuries in European gardens. In addition, an equal number of plants will be examined and discussed which are of species pruned at different seasons. Participants should bring with them gloves, hand clippers, small pruning saw and loppers, and are invited to bring sample branches that illustrate pruning problems they are facing. The session is conducted at a private residence in Beavercreek, Ohio; street address will be provided upon registration. Rain date: Friday, March 27, 2015, same times. Instructor will contact registered parties and ONLA program director to advise of and coordinate any weather delay.

Instructor Bio

Janet Macunovich, certified horticulturist, professional gardener, author, radio host, educator and columnist with 30+ years of experience. Janet owns Perennial Favorites, a garden and landscape design firm with her husband and serves clients nationally. Janet is an Advanced Master Gardener and the founder of the Michigan School of Gardening. Janet delivers dynamic presentations for Perennial Plant and Nursery & Landscape Associations around the country and earned top ratings at 2015 CENTS University.
