Ohio Nursery & Landscape Political Action Committee
ONLPAC Supports Legislators Who Support the Green Industry!
What is PAC?
A Political Action Committee (PAC) is formed by a group of individuals with similar interests who join together to financially support political candidates.
What is the Ohio Nursery & Landscape PAC?
The Ohio Nursery & Landscape PAC was formed to financially support political candidates who are able to beneficially influence legislative issues related to Ohio’s Green Industry.
How does the ONLPAC work?
The Ohio Nursery & Landscape Political Action Committee (ONLPAC) is the state political action committee for the green industry. Regulated by the Ohio Secretary of State, funds are used to support candidates running for the Ohio General Assembly. Contributions support candidates who show a commitment to understanding green industry businesses and the challenges they face, have a voting record and positions on issues impacting the green industry, have relevant committee assignments or leadership roles, and whose constituency is made up of Green Industry members. ONLPAC funds are disbursed regardless of party affiliation.
Do ONLA dues help fund the ONLPAC?
No. Federal and state laws prohibit corporations from making contributions to political funds. Only donations made from individuals and certain classifications of companies are allowed. Rest assured, however, because your dues do help legislatively in other ways, including representation by our legislative consultants at Capitol Consulting Group.
How Can I Get Legislatively Active?
There are several ways for you to be legislatively involved. First, get informed! Read the “Legislative Hotline” in The Buckeye magazine. Second, keep in contact with the ONLA office and our legislative consultants Dan and Belinda Jones at Capitol Consulting Group (614) 224-3855. Volunteer to serve on the ONLA’s Legislative Committee. Third, don’t be shy! If you have a relationship with a legislator, share that with the ONLA! And when it’s time to participate in a letter writing campaign…don’t hesitate!
How Does ONLPAC Raise Funds?
The ONLPAC hosts several fundraising events each year. These events may include golf outings and other sporting events, dinners, wine tastings, receptions, and other social events. Individuals and Corporations can both get involved! Individuals attend fundraising events and donate directly to the ONLPAC fund. Corporations sponsor these events and help offset the hosting costs. Individuals may also make donations throughout the year.
Sponsoring vs. Donating
Direct donations: Only individuals, sole proprietorship and partnerships are permitted to make direct donations to ONLPAC. No corporate donations are allowed. Sponsorships: Corporate monies can be accepted for sponsorships only. Corporations may sponsor ONLPAC events to help offset the hosting costs paid by the ONLA.
How Can I Contribute?
ONLPAC donations can be made by individuals, sole proprietorship and partnerships via cash, check or credit card. However, only $99 can be donated per individual per year in cash. Personal checks or personal credit card (Visa or MasterCard) donations can be accepted in any amount. Total donations per individual may not exceed $5000 per calendar year. PAC donations are not tax-deductible. Checks should be made out to Ohio Nursery & Landscape PAC. Sponsorships are not deposited into the ONLPAC fund. Sponsorships help to offset the costs of hosting ONLPAC fundraising events. Sponsorships may be made by check (made payable to the Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association), cash, Visa or MasterCard.
